A carbon laser facial, also known as a China doll Facial or Hollywood peel, is a non-invasive skin treatment that utilises advanced laser technology and a carbon-based lotion. This procedure involves applying a layer of carbon lotion to the skin, allowing it to bond with impurities. A laser is then used to heat and remove the carbon, effectively cleansing and rejuvenating the skin. It can also be used on other parts of the body such as the neck, décolletage or even the back, to help reduce clogged pores associated with back acne.
Many clients experience an immediate carbon facial glow and revitalisation after their first treatment. This treatment is ideal for enhancing skin luminosity before events and provides noticeable results without downtime. More significant improvements, such as reduced fine lines and wrinkles, typically occur after a series of 4-6 treatments, with visible results appearing 6-12 weeks after the initial session.
Fine lines and wrinkles
Complexion luminosity and glow
Enlarged pores
Congested and oily skin
Uneven skin texture and tone
These treatments utilize a Q-Switched Nd laser and liquid carbon cream applied to the skin. The laser energy absorbs the liquid carbon, breaking it into tiny particles that are then removed along with superficial skin cells, impurities, and oil. This process provides immediate exfoliation and deep cleansing, promoting skin rejuvenation.
The number of carbon laser facial treatments required depends on individual skin goals. Typically, a series of 4-6 sessions spaced 2-4 weeks apart is recommended for optimal results.
While generally safe, carbon laser facials may have minimal side effects, including temporary redness, dryness, or mild swelling. These effects usually subside shortly after treatment. It’s essential to follow pre- and post-treatment care instructions provided by your skincare professional to minimise any potential discomfort.
There is typically no downtime associated with carbon laser facials. Clients can resume their daily activities immediately post-treatment, though some may experience mild redness that resolves quickly.

Two of the main regulators (AHPRA and the TGA) have applied stricter rules around how cosmetic clinics advertise.
From March 7th 2024 it was clarified by the TGA that certain previously accepted methods of communicating with patients and marketing are now illegal.
Advertising prices of treatments is no longer allowed
Prices can of course still be discussed in person during your consultation, but they can’t be given over the phone, listed on a website or sent by email. Pricing must be quoted within the context of a consultation so that it is bespoke for your own needs.
Listing specific treatment areas is no longer allowed
New patients can now book in for a generic ‘New patient consultation’ and in person Courtney will explain what the best treatments are for your features. This helps avoid unrealistic expectations
